About Skiff Sports

Skiff Sports Limited was formed by Tim Hancock and Simon Payne specifically to become the distributor for the O’pen Skiff Dinghy in the UK and Ireland. Tim, a former 505 Class World Champion and World Sailing International Race Officer and Simon, a former two-time International Moth Class World Champion, saw the opportunity for a brilliantly designed, low maintenance, nippy and cost-effective youth single hander to be enjoyed alongside fun event formats.

Recognising that young sailors were dropping out of the sport, often due to the relentless drive to win at the expense of fun. Tim and Simon felt that the innovative and original events that the class has developed and so successfully deployed in other countries such as the US, Italy, New Zealand and Australia, would also be perfect for the UK. The aim is to provide a range of exciting event formats that combine short course racing as well as other fun activities on the water. We want our events and sailing the O’pen Skiff to be FRESH, FAST, FUN!

Skiff Sports Limited see a combination of the boat itself and the event formats as a great way to motivate and engage young sailors, ensuring that they are hooked on the sport for life. Skiff Sports seek to provide a central point of contact, information and purchase for all things O’pen Skiff in the UK and Ireland.
